GENESIS PRIVATE LEASE PACKAGES
Genesis Private Lease offers a choice of two packages: Complete and Plus. This will allow you to put together a private lease contract that suits your needs fully, with maximum flexibility. The Complete package includes the main benefits of Genesis Private Lease and is available at an attractive rate. The Plus package offers the most security and flexibility for the full duration, including the ability to terminate your lease agreement free of charge if you are made redundant from your permanent employment.

What is included in Genesis Private Lease?
Genesis Private Lease is an operational lease for private customers. With Genesis Private Lease, everything is included in one attractive, fixed monthly fee with no surprises: new car, interest and depreciation, third-party liability insurance and comprehensive cover with a maximum personal contribution of €450 per non-recoverable claim, motor vehicle tax, breakdown assistance at home and within Europe, tyre replacement, damage repair and glass repair, replacement transport after 48 hours in case of damage and servicing, delivery costs and disposal contribution, and servicing. Post-delivery vehicle charging costs and fines are not included.
Bear in mind that the monthly instalments will be adjusted during the lease according to the motor vehicle tax applicable at that time. Electric vehicles (EVs) are subject to a 70% motor vehicle tax rate, i.e. a 30% discount, from 1 January 2026. For now, the same discount rate is planned for 2027 and 2028. A 25% discount would then apply in 2029. After this, the full motor vehicle tax rate will apply (as things stand).
When am I eligible for Genesis Private Lease?
You must meet certain income requirements. To establish this, Genesis will always perform a financial check when you apply for a private lease. This is a requirement because Genesis Private Lease is affiliated with the Keurmerk Private Lease quality mark. The credit check is a financial assessment performed to make sure that your monthly expenses will not be too high after you sign the private lease contract. It involves looking at your monthly income and fixed expenses. Information and a number of documents are requested in a secure online portal. Once everything has been checked, you will receive feedback by email and we will contact you about what happens next.
Can I terminate my lease agreement early if I lose my job?
If you are made redundant from your permanent employment, and if it transpires that your income is no longer sufficient to pay the monthly instalments of your lease agreement, the lease agreement can be terminated free of charge under certain conditions.
What are the duration and mileage options?
You can choose a lease of between 36, 48, 60 and 72 months. In addition, you can opt for 5,000, 10,000, 15,000, 20,000, 25,000 or 30,000 kilometres per year. What if you drive more kilometres than are included in your lease contract? Then you will pay an excess mileage charge. What if you drive less? Then you will get money back. Any mileage excess or shortfall will be settled annually. You can find further details at the bottom of this page under the heading ‘What happens if I drive more or fewer kilometres than I stated?’
May the monthly fee change during the lease?
The monthly fee will remain the same throughout the contract. However, if there is an increase in taxes (road tax, VAT, insurance tax), this may be applied during the contract. You must be consulted on any further changes to the lease contract. Both you and the leasing company must then agree to the change, e.g. regarding the annual mileage. Please contact Genesis Private Lease to discuss any amendments.
What does the Keurmerk Private Lease quality mark mean?
The Keurmerk Private Lease quality mark provides proof of quality in the conclusion of reliable private lease contracts. The quality mark was developed in collaboration with the Consumentenbond consumers’ association. This quality mark is awarded by the independent Stichting Keurmerk Private Lease foundation. Genesis Private Lease is compliant with this quality mark, which means that we as a provider were assessed to obtain this quality mark. Am I free to choose where I have the car serviced?
No, this is included in your agreement and always takes place at a Genesis dealer. You can, however, choose your own authorised Genesis dealer, such as a Genesis dealer in your area.
Will I receive assistance if I break down abroad?
Yes, you will receive assistance if you break down in the Netherlands and within Europe.
Who may drive the car?
In principle, anyone with a valid driving licence may drive the car. Of course, the driver must be authorised and physically able to drive. The minimum age is 18 years.
If you lease the car, you will be responsible for it, even if damage is caused by someone else who is driving your lease car. You will be liable for other drivers. This applies even if a fine is received by you or Genesis Private Lease for an infringement committed at a time when you have loaned out the car. For serious traffic offences, the police or the Public Prosecution Service may ask us who the driver was at the time of the offence. We will request this information from you. You will be required to provide the driver’s name and address within five days. It is therefore wise to keep track of who is driving the car to avoid unpleasant situations.

What documents do you need to process my application?
A bank statement, payslip and driving licence.
Can I take a test drive?
You can, of course, take a free, no-obligation test drive beforehand at the Genesis dealer. Configure your desired Genesis online and then choose the ‘Request a test drive’ option. The Genesis dealer will then know straightaway which car you want to test drive and will contact you to arrange this.
Do I have to pay a deposit?
This is not possible for Genesis Private Lease, but it is for Genesis Private Finance. Check out the options at Genesis Private Finance.
Can I trade in my current car?
Yes, you can. You can trade in your current car at the Genesis dealer, and the agreed price will be paid to you by the dealer. The proceeds from the car you trade in will not be incorporated into the new lease contract.
Do I have a cooling-off period once I have signed a contract?
After you sign the lease agreement, you have a 14-day cooling-off period. After these 14 days, we may deliver the car.
What is the delivery time for the car?
This will depend on your chosen model. We will aim to deliver the car to you as soon as possible. Once the order has been processed, you can track your expected delivery date in the MyLeez app. You will receive the login details automatically after the order has been processed. You can, of course, contact the Genesis dealer.
Where do I collect the car?
You can collect your car from your chosen authorised Genesis dealer.
Will I receive replacement transport if I need it?
Yes, you will receive replacement transport after 48 hours in case of damage and servicing with the Complete package. If you take out the Plus package, you will receive replacement transport after 24 hours.
Can I adjust my duration/mileage partway through?
The contract can be amended once a year. This usually happens when the annual final statement is issued, but it may also occur at another time. However, additional services and accessories such as winter tyres can be added at any time during the contract. Please note that any services and accessories added relate to the remainder of the duration of the contract.
Can I terminate my Genesis Private Lease early?
If you are made redundant from your permanent employment, and if it transpires that your income is no longer sufficient to pay the monthly instalments of your lease agreement, the lease agreement can be terminated free of charge. If the above does not apply to you and you simply want to terminate your contract, the fixed termination fee is 30% of the sum of the remaining lease instalments. The maximum termination fee is always the total amount you would actually have had to pay if you had chosen this ‘new’ duration from the outset.
A calculation example:
Suppose you have a contract at €700 a month for 36 months. After 24 months, you decide to terminate it; there are still 12 months left. In that scenario, the termination fee is 12 x 700 = 8,400 x 30% = €2,520. We also always calculate the maximum: if you had chosen 24 months at the start, the lease price would have been €780. The maximum is therefore 780 - 700 = 80 x 24 months = €1,920. Since this maximum is lower, we use that amount as the termination fee.
Can I terminate my Genesis Private Lease contract early free of charge if I get divorced or my registered partnership is dissolved?
No, you cannot do this free of charge. If you wish to terminate your contract, the fixed termination fee is 30% of the sum of the remaining lease instalments. The maximum termination fee is always the total amount you would actually have had to pay if you had chosen this ‘new’ duration from the outset.
A calculation example:

Can I terminate my Genesis Private Lease contract early free of charge if I become incapacitated for work?
If you have opted for the Plus package, it is possible to terminate the lease agreement free of charge, subject to conditions, if you become incapacitated for work. Can I terminate my Genesis Private Lease contract early free of charge if I become involuntarily unemployed?
If you are made redundant from your permanent employment, and if it transpires that your income is no longer sufficient to pay the monthly instalments of your lease agreement, the lease agreement can be terminated free of charge. What should I do in case of burglary or theft?
In this case, contact Genesis Private Lease or the Genesis dealer as soon as possible. Genesis Private Lease can terminate the agreement if the vehicle has been stolen and has not been returned within 30 days of being reported missing. If the agreement is terminated due to theft or because the vehicle is not roadworthy, you can ask Genesis Private Lease to provide you with another vehicle. This can only be done for the time that the lease period would continue and under conditions to be agreed.
What should I do in case of damage?
You have the option of reporting the damage to Genesis Private Lease or to the Genesis dealer. You can report the damage either by phone or by email. The dealer will contact you within four hours of you reporting the damage to make an appointment. You can report your damage using a claim form, online or by phone.
For a non-recoverable claim, the excess is charged per incident, for example, in the case of a flat tyre. If the cost of the damage is lower than the excess, only the cost of the damage will be charged. The standard excess is €225.
With a private lease, the excess on a third claim in the one calendar year will be increased to €450. This new amount will then apply for the remainder of the contract.

Can I choose another car during the contract?
We are happy to look into the possibility of switching to another car partway through, in consultation with your Genesis dealer. Ask your dealer about early replacement options.
What happens if I drive more or fewer kilometres than I stated?
If you drive fewer kilometres than those included in the contract, this will be settled at the mileage shortfall rate.
Every 12 months, we will add up your purchased kilometre bundles from the previous period. We will compare this number with the number of kilometres actually driven during this period. We will charge you for any additional kilometres driven. The first time we will do this is 12 months after the car is delivered.
What if you paid extra, but, at the next settlement date, you kept within the total number of purchased kilometres? Then you will receive any previous settlement back from us. This way, you will never pay too much, and it is up to you how you spread the kilometres across the contract.
Will the car become my property after the contract expires?
As the end of the contract approaches, Genesis Private Lease will offer you the option of buying the car afterwards. If you decide to buy the car, it will become your property. Of course, it is also possible to enter into a new lease contract.
My contract is about to expire, what should I do?
You must return the car when the lease period ends. The car must be returned no later than the last working day of the lease period. If you keep the car for longer, you will pay a substantial surcharge on top of the ongoing instalment amount. The lease agreement cannot simply continue.
You must make an appointment with Genesis Private Lease to return the car. When you return the car, a staff member will be present to inspect the condition of the car with you. You will then receive an intake report detailing any damage the car has sustained. This will also state whether everything that belongs to the car has been returned, whether the car is clean and what the mileage is.
If I take out a Genesis Private Lease, will I have to pay a ‘private use addition’?
The private use addition only applies to business lease cars provided by an employer. With a private lease, there is never a private use addition.
Do I pay the bill for my Genesis Private Lease in advance or at the end of each month?
The Genesis Private Lease fee is paid each month in advance.
My first invoice is higher than I agreed to. Why is this?
Your first direct debit may well be higher than the agreed monthly instalment included in your contract. You will receive the first invoice from Genesis Private Lease after you start using the car. Arval always bills on the 15th of the month, for the following month. Given that you will pay the monthly fee in advance, the first invoice will be higher than the normal monthly fee. For example, if you start using the car on 20 March, you will receive the first invoice on 15 April. This invoice will consist of the lease fee for 20 to 31 March, plus the monthly fee for April and May. After that, you will pay the agreed monthly fee every month.
What does BKR registration mean, and will I be reported?
If you enter into a Private Lease agreement, this will be registered with the credit register BKR in Tiel. BKR aims to protect consumers from becoming over-indebted. We will also report any payment delay of 60 days to BKR. We and BKR want to prevent you from encountering problems caused by excessive debt. The lease agreement contains information about this. The amount communicated is based on the duration x the lease rate x 100%.
Calculation example:
Suppose you lease a car via Private Lease at €600 a month, based on 48 months/10,000 kilometres a year. In that case, the amount will be calculated as follows: 48 months x €600 x 100% = €28,800. This amount will be communicated to BKR. For more information, visit: www.bkr.nl.
Is my Genesis Private Lease car insured?
Yes, third-party liability and comprehensive cover are included in your monthly fee. So, there is no need to arrange separate insurance.
What should I do if I damage the car?
If you damage the car, the cost of the repair will be covered. If the damage is self-inflicted or the claim is not recoverable, a fixed amount will be charged as a contribution to the cost of the damage. This is called the ‘excess’. This excess will not exceed €225 per claim. If the cost of repairing the damage is lower than the chosen excess, we will, of course, only charge the repair costs and not the full excess.
What is meant by ‘personal contribution’ in case of damage?
If the car sustains damage, the cost of the repair will be covered. If the damage is self-inflicted or the claim is not recoverable, a fixed amount will be charged as a contribution to the cost of the damage. This is called the ‘excess’. The chosen personal contribution can be found in the lease contract.
How much is my excess?
In the event of a claim, you will pay a personal contribution for every non-recoverable claim depending on the package chosen. The personal contribution is €150, up to a maximum of €450 per non-recoverable claim. If the amount of the claim is lower than the amount of the personal contribution, you will pay the amount of the claim. If more than two non-recoverable claims occur in the one calendar year, Genesis Lease will double the personal contribution for the remainder of the duration of the contract.
Will I accrue claim-free years?
No claim-free years will be accrued for the duration of the Genesis Private Lease. However, it will be possible to request a no-claims certificate for the period that the private lease contract runs / has run. Check with your prospective insurer whether this certificate is accepted.
Does the monthly fee depend on the number of claim-free years accrued?
The monthly fee does not depend on any claim-free years accrued. There will be no additional charges if you have no claim-free years.
Can I take the car with me if I move abroad?
The driver of the car must be resident in the Netherlands. It is therefore not possible to take the car abroad with you. If you do move abroad, the private lease agreement will be terminated early; fees will be charged for this.
What happens if I die?
If you die, the lease agreement can be terminated immediately by either an heir or the leasing company. Genesis Private Lease can terminate it by sending a letter to the most recent address we have on file for you. There is no charge for termination in connection with death. However, the heirs will be obliged to return the vehicle immediately after the lease is terminated and will remain liable to pay the instalment amount and other outstanding charges until they return it.
If the lease contract has been signed by two people and the other person has not died, the lease cannot be terminated due to death. The other person will then become the sole contract partner.
